TT.VII Technical Multi-Track with Parallel SYMPOSIA
Innovative Nanotechnological Approaches for Regenerative Medicine
Co-organized with Distretto Sicilia Micro-nano Sistemi, University of Messina, CNR-IPCB & CNR-ISMN
Chairs: Sabrina CONOCI, University of Messina - Luigi AMBROSIO, CNR-IPCB & Alek DEDIU, CNR-ISMN
Regenerative Medicine represents one of the most promising routes in health sciences aiming at the repair and regeneration of biological tissues and functions that have been damaged by diseases, trauma, or congenital issues. The field advances in a truly multidisciplinary approach by combining such research fields as material science, stem cell biology, cell signaling, 3D printing and many others. The regenerative medicine has the potential to provide disruptive solutions for multiple unmet need in the clinical practice, promoting in parallel key advances in many scientific and technological areas such us Tissue Engineering, Cellular Therapies, Medical Devices and Artificial Organs. In this context, the nanotechnology plays a fundamental role in the development of new smart materials and biosystems as basic elements for regenerative and therapeutic activities, focusing on various processes such as the dynamic microenvironment modulation of cells, delivering of drugs, cell differentiation, proliferation and organization in many applicative fields such as those for the bone, vascular, heart, cartilage, bladder, brain tissue, cancer and even nervous system. In this Special Session an overview of the most innovative approaches used in regenerative medicine will be presented.
