TT.II Technical Multi-Track with Parallel SYMPOSIA
Emerging technologies for clean energy production and distribution
Co-organized with Polytechnic University of Turin, IIT Center for Sustainable Future Technologies - CSFT@POLITO, INRIM
Chair: Marco FONTANA CV, Polytechnic University of Turin
The evolution of research in the field of energy transition continuously brings out the need to develop new technological solutions in the field of energy production and storage. Although technological progress on this front has been impressively fast in recent years there are still some steps to be taken to achieve the ambitious objectives required to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, associated with the production of the energy necessary to guarantee social and industrial development. The challenges of the energy transition cannot be faced only by the present technologies but need the development of new knowledge that stimulates the development of new technologies. It is necessary that research will be oriented towards the development of innovative methods of energy production, through a multidisciplinary approach, completely detaching from the current approach, heavily based on the application of fossil fuels. In this framework, knowledge and industrial investments will be devoted to new green energy technologies, green hydrogen and sustainable biofuels, interoperability and smart integration in the different sectors, towards new environmentally friendly materials with low carbon footprint. The aim of the symposium is to provide an overview of some advanced research trends in the field of energy production and the integration of green technologies within sustainable industry. This symposium is connected to the PNRR NEST (Network 4 Energy Sustainable Transition) Extended Partnership.
The symposium is part of the Workshop WS.II
